On May 14, the 21st Neisse Film Festival will begin in Zittau's theater with a film in line with this year's special Focus theme of "Female Perspectives". The drama "Elbow" by Aslı Özarslan, based on Fatma Aydemir's novel of the same name, is an intense portait of a young woman who pays a high price to free herself from the projections of the society around her.

Under the title of "Female Perspectives" the special focus series in this year's festival program will be dedicated to the female perspective in more than just cinema. In addition to a wide range of films, there will also be a reading, concerts and an exhibition.

From May 14-19 the Neisse Film Festival is entering its 21st round. We received more than 900 film entries this year -- more than ever before. The full-length, documentary and short films that have been submitted portray current and historical topics as well as timeless stories, and are competing for the ten Neisse Fish awards which are being designed once again by the local artist Andreas Kupfer…
